Players start with four Disease cards face up in front of them (their “psyche”) and four cards hidden in their hand. Taking turns, players draw cards from the deck and try to find the right medications to treat their diseases.
A medicine card cures an illness, but also exposes the player to new illnesses (listed in the side effects of that medicine) from other players.
Each illness card has a unique punishment that will be triggered by an episode card. Play an episode card on another player to hinder them or help yourself.
Side Effects ends when one player has cured all the illnesses in their psyche.
